First official version of LineageOS 14.1 for Samsung Galaxy S6

LineageOS 14.1 for Samsung Galaxy S6

Since the announcement of the CyanogenMod split and the transformation of the AOSP project into LineageOS we have had access to different unofficial versions that have allowed us to enjoy and replicate CyanogenMod 14.1 based on the Android 7.1.1 code. One such model was the Samsung Galaxy S6, although today the development team has just released the first official version of the popular and demanded customized ROM, LineageOS 14.1.

From its beginnings, CyanogenMod aroused great interest within the community of users who liked Android. It is a firmware that promised from the outset a clean interface as the native version of Android, but with its own personality and character to which they would add their own tools and applications. All this under the premise of providing the best balance between performance and autonomy, as well as continuous support for a growing catalog of models.

To this day, LineageOS takes the witness of that project that was initially launched by Steve Kondik. Although at the start of the year the beginnings of the new project were a total chaos, to this day the development and compilation of official and unofficial versions of LineageOS are progressing at a good pace. So much that today we have available the first official version of LineageOS 14.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S6. While there will be no major variations from the latest unofficial versions, the support of the custom ROM will be sponsored by the developers who promote the project.

If you are interested in downloading and installing LineageOS 14.1 on the Samsung Galaxy S6, you can find all the information in the official thread published in XDA.

As with other options in the form of custom ROM, again LineageOS 14.1 is positioned as a very option to consider for owners of the model who want to enjoy the benefits of Android Nougat. For the moment, there is still no official update that moves Android 7.0 Nougat to the device, although a week ago we learned that the OTA for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge was very close.
