Although all eyes are on the next version of Google’s operating system, Android O, but it will not officially reach our smartphones and tablets until the end of this year. However, before the wait there is still one more update for Android 7.1. We refer of course to Android 7.1.2, update that begins to officially arrive at all compatible devices.
Google released the first beta of Android 7.1.2 in January, followed by a second beta in March of which we detailed all its news a couple of weeks ago. Now it finally seems that the final version of the Google operating system is ready as so have alerted numerous users who are already starting to receive the update without being part of the Android beta program.
The update to Android 7.1.2, as it can be seen in the following capture, barely occupies 340 MB, so you do not need to have too much free storage space in your terminal to install new software that, to begin with, started Its deployment in the Google Pixel C. However it is expected that throughout the day it will begin to reach the other devices of the company.
What new comes with Android 7.1.2?
In Android 7.1.2 we did not find the same number of improvements that in its day Android 7.1 provided. However, in addition to incorporating different solutions to errors and stability in the system, the software adds a number of notable new features. This way, for example, Google Pixel fingerprint scanner gestures is already available for use on the Google Nexus 6P and the Google Nexus 5X, while the Pixel Launcher lands on Google Pixel C.
The update to Android 7.1.2 also includes a new way to check the battery management of our smartphone, but little is added to what we already know in the previous version of the company’s software.
Although they should do so in the next few hours, the pages of Google OTA and Factory Image have not yet been updated with the new software packages. As soon as they appear, we will update this same news with all the information to download Android 7.1.2 on the Google Nexus 6P and Google Nexus 5X. Remember that this new version is not expected to reach other terminals of the company such as the Nexus 6 or Nexus 9.
