Android Nougat 7.1.2 is released for the Pixel C and brings along the pixel launcher

Pixel C with Android 7.1.2

Android Nougat 7.1.2 is still in the beta stage and is distributed only by appropriate channels. Yesterday, the owners of a Pixel C completely surprised when they offered the update to the stable version which can be now installed. The users of the tablet benefit from the fact that the system now runs more stable and also brings the pixel launcher with it.

Although the successor Android O is already in the starting holes and is currently distributed as a developer version, the development continues to Android Nougat. The first beta version of Android 7.1.2 was already rolled out at the end of January and could be downloaded for all current devices from the Google range. Only two weeks ago, the second beta version of Android 7.1.2 was released and has brought again bugfixes with itself.

So far, Google had not said when the final version of Android Nougat 7.1.2 is to be expected, but only a few days ago, the second version of the beta was released. As of April 1, the tablets suddenly offered to download and install the latest version of Nougat.

The update to the latest version brings the pixel launcher, which replaces the previous launcher and makes real pixel gadgets from the devices. All other changes refer only to the stability of the operating system and, according to the current state, do not involve any major new functions. As the rollout has just begun, it is quite possible that further improvements will be discovered in the course of the next days.

The rollout started yesterday and should arrive on all devices over the next days. At the moment it is unclear whether the update is limited regionally or whether it is globally available. Usually Google doesn’t offer much difference for Android updates different regions.

It is in Google’s current fortune, although it is also conceivable that the update was accidentally released and was not really intended for the devices. If that was the case it would have probably been withdrawn after a few hours and would not still be distributed today. All other smartphones should probably get the update probably also in the next days.
