NVIDIA support Netflix in 4K resolution

Nvidia wants you to see Netflix 4K on your PC even if you do not have a compatible processor. One of the benefits of Netflix is that it offers much of its content with 4K resolution. On can take advantage of the new televisions that have come to market which have the technology to support 4k resolution. However, things are not so simple as it requires the use of a PC with Intel Kaby Lake processor, Windows 10 operating system and Edge browser. Luckily, Nvidia wants to offer us a new alternative to enjoy Netflix 4K on the PC.

Watching Netflix in 4K resolution needs a number of requirements as we do on the TV or PC. In the first case, we need a compatible equipment with 4K or UHD resolution and a high-speed connection as explained by the video content provider in your FAQ area. In the second case, on the PC, we need that same Internet connection, but also a processor, a system and a compatible browser.

At the moment, only the new Intel Kaby Lake are able to offer Netflix 4K on the computer. This is due to support for 10-bit HEVC decoding and use of PlayReady 3.0 technology. Interestingly, the new GTX series 10, where we find the 1080, 1070 or 1060, also have these requirements, but until now could not be used to see Netflix 4K.

The new Nvidia graphics will be able to play Netflix 4K on computers as long as they have contracted the compatible plan per month. The new 10 series cards meet the strict DRM requirements required to view content at full resolution on Windows 10 computers. However, we will have to meet a number of requirements.

First, count on the drivers or drivers 381.74 that are offered exclusively for the moment within Windows Insider. Then have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or higher with at least 3GB of dedicated memory. The monitor must be compatible with the HDCP 2.2 standard.

We will still need the Windows 10 operating system, the Microsoft Edge browser or the Netflix application created for this system. Finally, a connection of more than 25 Mbps is basic to be able to stream with this resolution. Those who are able to meet these requirements will be able to watch Netflix in 4k resolution on your PC.
