Android 7.1.2 arrives at Sony Xperia X this week

At the end of January Google announced the launch of Android 7.1.2 in beta for the Google Pixel, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Nexus 6P, leaving both Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 out of the upgrade. The company has been pushing the latest software update for a few weeks and, although it has been causing some unexpected problems on some Nexus and Pixel devices, Google promises to bring minor improvements to previous versions of Nougat.

Now, after the mentioned devices, it seems that the users of Sony Xperia X will be the next to receive such an update. The Sony team has just announced that the update of Android 7.1.2 for the Sony Xperia X will arrive this week in the experimental phase, which indicates that different failures could be encountered during its execution.

However, among the official features of Android 7.1.2 for the Sony Xperia X we find details such as improved performance of the fingerprint recognition system, improvements in Bluetooth connectivity, battery usage alerts and other minor corrections that would improve the overall performance of the phone.

To be able to benefit from all the improvements that Android 7.1.2 brings to the Sony Xperia X, the users will need to install the Concept Installer from Google Play Store. At present this updates are available to European users with the single SIM variant of Sony Xperia X, F5121. The systems participating to receive the update will receive quick updates prior to the release of a final version of software. This allows the users to obtain the changes of a future operating system in advance. As we warned before, it is likely that failures will be found during execution.
