2016 was a year with very little news in the smartwatch sector, which was largely due to the delayed appearance on Android Wear 2.0. In fact, manufacturers expected the release of the new version of Google’s operating system for wearables, by putting new smart watches on the market.
After the appearance of LG Watch Sport, LG Watch Style, Montblanc Summit, and Tag Heuer (connected Modular 45), Fossil Group will be prolific for Android Wear 2.0 in 2017.
Android Wear has been one of the featured protagonists of the Basselworld 2017 fair dedicated to the world of watches. One of the companies that has attended this fair is Fossil Group, which has announced that it will launch more than 300 smart watches and hybrid watches through its 14 brands this year.
The brands in question are some of the most popular – Adidas, Diesel, Burberry, Karl Legerfeld, DKNY, Marc Jacobs and Emporio Armani are among the best known. Fossil will also launch products under its own brand.
Diesel has announced its own watch in Basselworld with a large touch screen. Emporio Armani will release its own Android Wear watch in September, while Fossil will release two watches, Q Venture and Q Explorist, next fall.
All watches will have their own app designed specifically to reflect the identity of each company. Not all clocks will be smart clocks, but there will be many hybrids, that is, mechanical clocks with some monitoring technology for physical activity.
