Hugo Barra, One of the Early Drivers of Android, Leaves Xiaomi

Hugo Barra leaves Xiomi

Hugo Barra is one of the most influential people on the Android project in its beginnings has left Xiomi. He worked as vice president of Google for many years, so as we imagine much of the operating system we use is thanks to this Brazilian engineer. In 2013 the Chinese company Xiaomi was incorporated with the intention of internationalizing the company, among other things, mobile telephony.

Today we have known that he leaves Xiaomi to return to Sillicon Valley, United States. We do not know about the company or where he will work now, as Barra has kept it secret. Maybe it’s Google, its “start-up company”, we do not know. What he has said is that he will continue as an external advisor to Xiaomi if this were to happen.

The change will be with the Chinese new year, next month, completing three and a half years since its inception in the company of Beijing. One of Xiaomi’s co-founders says that Hugo Barra has not gone through the company without a trace, so they hurt without a doubt that he left the Chinese company. Xiang Wang will now be the senior vice president of Xiaomi who will take his place.

As the Brazilian puts it, he may leave China, among other things, for health problems, although it is not a clear statement. On the other hand, the co-founder of Xiaomi explains that it is for new challenges that has been proposed.

The engineer details how the brand expanded to more than 20 countries, including India, Singapore, Russia or even the United States. His debut at CES 17 has undoubtedly been, as he explains, the best event played by Xiaomi, apart from internationalizing important countries such as USA, went on to win three awards. The public letter can be seen in your Facebook profile, which we link in the middle of the news.
