During the last weeks we have seen different news that indicated us the intention of Sony to announce new terminals during the MWC 2017 that will take place at the end of February.
These terminals, according to known information would be in the mid-range of the Japanese catalog, and did not contradict with too much boasting about specifications.
But it seems that things are about to change, and is that as stated from a source of Japanese origin, Sony would have ready two new high-end devices, belonging to the XZ family, that would be presented during the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona.
According to the source, the terminals have the key names of Yoshino and BlancBright, and both have similar specifications with some features in common such as the Snapdragon 835 processor or the Sony IMX400 photo sensor.
The top model under the name Yoshino would have a 5.5-inch screen with 4K resolution, which yields a screen resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels. Inside you will also find 4 or 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
On the other hand, the model with the name BlancBright would arrive with a panel of 5.2 inches and resolution WQHD with 2560 x 1440 pixels. In this case, the RAM stays in 4 GB, also with LPDDR4X technology. In addition, there are doubts as to whether this terminal will finally integrate Snapdragon 835 or 653.
It is necessary to comment that although the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor that would include both terminals will be exclusive to Samsung during the first months of its life, it would not be unreasonable to think that Sony could announce its new high range in the MWC 2017, to launch them to the market a few months later when the exclusivity of the Snapdragon 835 by Samsung is finished.
In fact, the Japanese company already made a similar move during the past MWC with the line Xperia X, which did not reach the market until June.
Finally, the Sony Hinoki and Keyaki would also have been filtered with features that completely coincide with those of the Sony G3221 and G1112 that we knew a few days ago, and that might well be the successors of the Xperia X and Xperia M5 respectively.
Sony also would present a fifth terminal under the Mineo code name, whose specifications remain secret for now.
Although Sony has already confirmed its presence in MWC 2017, we must take this information with some skepticism to discover new details and contrast this data. Even so, if the specifications of the two high-end models are realized, we would be facing some terminals capable of meeting the best of this first half of the year, and that could become the protagonists of the event.
What do you think about the possible features of the new Sony flagship?
