Xiaomi Pinecone line of SoC for smartphones will be officially announced on February 28 in Beijing.
The big companies want to make their own processors, Huawei or Samsung know what this is about, and of course, Xiaomi wants to get into the game. We have been talking a long time about the possibility that Xiaomi presents its own processors, and the time has come.
The Chinese company has released a teaser that confirms the existence of these new chips had already been leaked in the past. As reported in previous weeks, the first SoC Pinecone debut with the Xiaomi Mi 5C, but we still do not have many more details.
However, it will not be like last year, where it introduced the Xiaomi Mi 5 in the Spanish city. This year the presentation of the processor will not take place in Barcelona, but probably in the companies country of origin, in Beijing.
However, it seems that at first they will be rolling out two versions of the chip, V670 and V970. The first of the two, which is the low-end model will probably be mounted on the I 5C, should be made with a 28 nm manufacturing process and use an architecture with 8 core Cortex-A53 (including 4 with a clock speed higher) with Mali-T860 MP4 GPU.
On the other hand, the high-end model V970 could be launched in the fourth quarter of the year and, according to reports, will use an architecture octa-core with four Cortex-A73 and four Cortex-A53 (with a minimum 2 GHz clock and up to 2.7 GHz) and Mali GPU G71 MP12. For more details we will have to wait until February 28, the date on which will be unveiled the new SoC Xiaomi.
This is what Xiaomi has prepared to enter fully into the market for smartphone processors. It is still not entirely official, but the next Xiaomi Mi 5c is expected to arrive with one of these two processors.
