Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3 – Zombies Content Reveal

With Season 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 just around the corner, we’ve a bunch of new info about the upcoming zombies content.

The main attraction is the new map called “Shattered Veil,” which looks set to give players a scary and exciting experience. Let’s take a closer look at what COD fans can expect in Season 3.

Shattered Veil: A New Chapter in the Black Ops Zombies Saga

Citadel Des Morts
Citadel Des Morts

Coming out on April 2nd, Shattered Veil takes place in a far-off, tree-filled area above Liberty Falls. The main spot on the map is an old house called Colton Hall, which has been changed for evil reasons.

This map is supposed to be as big as other large maps like Citadel Des Morts, giving players lots of space to explore and stay alive.

The Story Continues

The story continues with our team having the Sentinel artifact, which they got from the last map. They’re meeting with Sam, whose robot-like mind is important for understanding the artifact’s secrets. Their big goal? Bringing Agent Maxis back. But like always in zombie stories, things are sure to go wrong.

It’s interesting that the team is working with Sam, even though people like Ravenov said not to trust her. This might lead to surprises and betrayals as players solve the Easter egg.

The focus on bringing back human Sam (Agent Maxis) is also a change in the story, which before didn’t seem to care much about her human side.

A Haunting Locale

Colton Hall is described as a “run-down mansion” with misty grounds around it. Players will check out different parts of the place, including:

  1. The conservatory
  2. The grand foyer
  3. Sprawling gardens
  4. Other rambling parts of the mansion

New Enemy Types

Shattered Veil brings in two new types of enemies that will make the game harder in new ways:

1. Elder Disciples

These floating apparitions are a more powerful variant of the regular Disciples. They have the ability to:

  • Empower zombies around them
  • Summon more undead to join the battle
  • Force their allies to evolve more quickly (e.g., transforming regular zombies into Doppelgangers)
  • Become more agitated as they take damage
  • Emit a powerful scream against players who get too close

Players will need to take out Elder Disciples first to stop too many zombies from showing up.

2. Toxic Zombies

These are like enemies from Black Ops 4. They’re sick-looking yellow zombies that bring new danger:

  • Easily identifiable by their greenish hue and scaly exterior
  • Sprint towards players before exploding
  • Leave behind a damaging pool of acid
  • Emit a distinctive shriek as they approach

These new enemy types promise to shake up the traditional zombies gameplay, forcing players to adapt their strategies and prioritize targets differently.

Wonder Weapons

No zombies map is complete without wonder weapons, and Shattered Veil delivers with some exciting options:

Ray Gun Mark 2 and Variants

The classic Ray Gun M2 returns, offering its trademark three-round burst of energy. It can be pack-a-punched and even used as a melee weapon when ammunition runs low.

More excitingly, players can unlock three new variants of the Ray Gun Mark 2 through what is likely an Easter egg:

  1. W type: Shoots like a fast gun and might set enemies on fire
  2. P type: Shoots like a shotgun and can make a magic sign that makes you invincible for a short time
  3. R type: Shoots like a sniper rifle and might spread a sickness that hurts zombies in an area

Wunderwaffe DG-2

This fan-favorite wonder weapon makes a return, capable of striking down hordes with chain lightning blasts. It can stun crowds of zombies and deal significant damage over time.

New Gameplay Elements

Shattered Veil introduces several new gameplay mechanics and features to enhance the zombies experience:

Double Tap 2.0 Perk

The classic rapid-fire perk returns after nearly a decade, dramatically increasing weapons’ fire rate.

Players can research enhancements for even faster firing and a chance to inflict double damage. The perk machine’s design has been praised as one of the best in zombies history.

Double Tap 2.0 comes with several augments:

  • Double Jeopardy: Chance for low-health zombies to die immediately when shot
  • Double Impact: Increased damage for quick successive hits on the same target
  • Double Standard: All non-critical shots do double damage (for normal bullet weapons)
  • Double Time: Increases fire rate bonus
  • Double or Nothing: Chance for double damage or zero damage; killing two enemies quickly can return ammo to the magazine

New Traps

  1. Microwave Trap: Costs 750 essence and bursts zombies with microwaves
  2. Dark Aether Field Generator: Creates a static field that zaps and dissolves zombies passing through it

New Gobblegums

  1. Tactical Diffusion: Disables the next nuke power-up explosion, giving everyone 2,000 essence instead
  2. Support Group: Provides RCXD, Mangler Cannon, Sentry Gun, and Mutant Injection support items
  3. Die Pitched: Gives zombies high-pitched voices (purely for entertainment)

Death Machine Support Scorestreak

Available as an event reward, this powerful machine gun offers a fast fire rate, high penetration, and a large magazine for 1,750 salvage.

Additional Modes and Content

Team Cranked

Building on the previous Cranked mode, this team-focused variant shares the crank timer across the entire team. Any kill from any team member fills the timer, and various power-ups can help extend or pause the time limit. The mode offers rewards for surviving past round 50 on each map.

Directed Mode and Events

Coming at mid-season, this mode will provide extra guidance for completing the main Easter egg quest in Shattered Veil.

Zombie Snacks LTM and Frost Blast Field Upgrade

A new limited-time mode called “Zombie Snacks” will arrive later in the season, along with a new Frost Blast field upgrade to help players combat the undead.

Easter Egg and Intel

The main secret quest will be ready when the game starts. You can win a moving picture for your profile and points. If you finish it before Directed Mode comes out, you get a special picture.

Like before, there are clues (sound recordings, papers, and objects) all over the map. These tell you more about the story of Colton Hall.

Conclusion

The new zombies stuff for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3 looks big. It has a new map with old and new ways to play, new bad guys, cool special guns, and the return of favorite drinks like Double Tap 2.0.

New game modes like Team Cranked and Zombie Snacks, plus the new Frost Blast power, should keep things interesting all season. We’ll know how good it really is when people start playing, but it looks like COD 6 zombies fans have a lot to look forward to in Season 3 of Black Ops 6.
