The hottest Christmas gift of 2016 on Amazon will likely be the hottest present again this year. Amazon says it offered millions of Alexa (Echo Dot) devices within the Thanksgiving shopping weekend and in September the retail giant had a 76 percent smart home speaker market share based on Consumer Intelligence Research Partners. That isn’t a surprise, because the Alexa devices were the first on the industry.
Google is no more on Blackfoot if it comes to smart speaker!
Now Google is attempting to grab a number of that market share together with the launch of their Google Home apparatus.
If you are just now dipping your feet into the smart speaker/personal assistant, you may be attempting to decide which one is ideal for you. There’s no simple answer, but here is what you want to understand before you choose.
We’ll compare the Amazon Echo Dot with the Google Home mini. Both are somewhat bigger than a hockey puck and are shaped the exact same way. The Google Home miniature looks better, with a cloth top, while the Echo Dot appears similar to the hockey puck. Both controlled by your own voice or with a touch.
Both can answer most any question and give info about the weather, news reports and traffic conditions. They could both tell you exactly what’s on your calendar for the day and the two can take notations of purchasing lists. However, the Google Mini joins with your Google account. So it knows where you work and where you live if you’ve ever used Google Maps and
Entered that information.
Amazon Echo Dot vs Google Home Mini
The Echo Dot works seamlessly with an Amazon account, and it can play audio from Amazon Music and command what you watch on tv if you use an Amazon Fire Stick streaming device. The mini also does that through a Google Chromecast streaming device.
The biggest difference here is the own subscription. In case you’ve got a Fire Stick, any Amazon device or if you sign up for Amazon Prime, you’re probably going to discover the Echo Dot much more useful. You can also order things through the Dot and receive special deals exclusively for Alexa owners.
Google will play music through the Google Music program, but that requires a subscription. Google is also pulling YouTube from Amazon apparatus, so in the event that you see a good deal of videos, you’re going to be happier with the miniature or other Google Home devices.
So, both apparatus do exactly what they are advertised to perform. The determining factor is where you’ve set your interest to this stage. Think if you’re embedded into the Amazon eco-system, you can’t fail with the Echo. If you’re not an Amazon Prime member, the miniature is where you want to spend your time. If you are neither, the Google Mini might be the best choice.
I’ve got both, and an Amazon Prime membership, and that I use Google goods, and that I will see myself being equally pleased with both device.
But, I’d choose the Echo Dot for a single reason: It can connect to any Bluetooth speaker. It connected to some Bluetooth speaker just by asking.
Why Echo Dot is lil more recommended?
The Google Mini will just connect to speakers which can use Google’s Chromecast. Consequently, if you want to listen to audio over a speaker, then you’ll probably have to purchase a new Bluetooth speaker. That is a deal breaker for anyone who wants to listen to music.
