Ready to conquer it? Here’s your complete roadmap to victory.

Why Play the Legendary Campaign?

One of the best reasons to take on the legendary campaign is the exclusive reward: an exotic armor piece for the class you finish it with.

On top of that, beating tough challenges and learning new mechanics gives a real sense of achievement. It’s a rewarding experience for players looking to push their skills.

Recommended Builds by Class

Before jumping into missions, here are the builds we used to get through the campaign smoothly. Each class has setups that work well for handling groups of enemies and dealing with Fallen and Vex mini-bosses.

Titan Builds

  • Consecration Build: This melee ability-centric build remains highly effective for most of the campaign. Its strength is in its powerful melee consecration, which can decimate ads (adds, or additional enemies). However, due to the verticality and design of the Kepler destination, we shifted away from this setup later in the campaign.
  • Prismatic Ability Spam Build:
    • Exotics/Aspects: Spirit of Inmost Light (for regeneration) and Spirit of Contact.
    • Abilities: Stasis grenades and Shield Throw.
    • Advantages: Shield Throw paired with Spirit of Contact enhances crowd control and survival, particularly through overshield generation. This combination is ideal for managing the constant threat of adds throughout the campaign.

Warlock Builds

  • Prismatic Lightning Surge Build:
    • Exotics/Perks: Feed the Void (for survivability) with Arcane Needle and Lightning Surge.
    • How It Works: This build mirrors the playstyle of a Titan consecration build, using Warlock’s arc abilities for superior crowd control. Lightning Surge slide melee attacks deal jolting Area of Effect (AoE) damage, effortlessly clearing out enemy clusters.

Hunter Builds

  • Prismatic Ascension Build:
    • Focus: Ability spamming.
    • Aspects/Exotics: Ascension Fragment paired with Spirit of Inmost Light and Spirit of Seraknate.
    • How It Works: By using Ascension (mid-air class ability) to jolt enemies and Stylish Executioner for invisibility, you can maintain constant ability uptime. Woven Mail provides additional damage resistance while grappling, further enhancing survivability.

Why Prismatic Builds Are Strong

All exotic class items from the Edge of Fate are pre-upgraded to the new Armor 3.0 system, providing you with a substantial stat boost. With approximately 70 bonus stats, you can easily raise multiple attributes above 100 without the need for gear grinding.

Best Weapons for the Campaign

While builds focus on crowd control, your weapon choice ensures efficient elimination of bosses and high-value targets.

  • Exotic Scout Rifle (Season Pass):
    • How It Works: This third version of an exotic scout rifle marks enemies when aiming down sights, inflicting massive damage with subsequent shots. Its high damage output for a primary weapon makes it invaluable against tougher foes.
    • Downside: Longer reload times.
  • Tanasha’s Mastery: An excellent crowd-control weapon with freezing and slowing abilities, perfect for halting enemy waves.
  • Versus Chill Inhibitor (Heavy Weapon): A high-DPS heavy weapon obtained from the gunsmith, ideal for boss encounters.

Campaign Overview and Mission Structure

Unlike past campaigns, Edge of Fate doesn’t follow a straight path. You’ll often unlock multiple main missions at once and can tackle them in any order.

Sometimes, after finishing a mission, you’ll be placed in the open-world Kepler area, where you can explore side quests or keep moving forward with the main story.

Understanding the Four Kepler Mechanics

Edge of Fate introduces new gameplay mechanics tied to the Kepler destination. You’ll need to master these to solve puzzles and progress:

1. Matter Spark:

  • The first mechanic unlocked.
  • What It Does: Lets you turn into a ball-like state to navigate tight tunnels or power certain objects.
  • Tips:
    • Tunnel entrances and Matter Spark triggers are generally located near each other.
    • Can also be used to damage enemies without exiting the ball.

Key Boss Usage: The first significant bossfight requires you to use Matter Spark to disable shields in the arena by charging specific objects.

2. Rosetta Language:

  • Allows you to interact with alien glyphs around Kepler.
  • Tips:
    • Often, glyphs aren’t immediately active, and you may need to destroy nearby objects or enemies to interact with them.

3. Relocator Cannon:

  • A device that lets you “shoot” portals (teleportation pads).
  • How It Works: Pick up the relocator cannon and aim it at glowing yellow objects. These will redirect shots to blue glowing portals, creating paths forward.
  • Environmental Puzzle Example:
    • Example: Shooting through lasers to ricochet a beam into inaccessible teleporters requires precise alignment.

4. Matter Realignment:

  • The fourth and final Kepler mechanic, unlocked mid-campaign.
  • What It Does: Lets you throw projectiles that suspend enemies and alter the environment, such as creating bridges or passageways.
  • Tips:
    • Some puzzles require combining this mechanic with Matter Spark or Relocator Cannon for multitiered solutions.

Notable Missions and Puzzles

The campaign is packed with tricky puzzles. Here are some key missions and how to beat them:

Exile’s Accord Stranglet:

  • Puzzle: Enemies drop conductive charges that must be carried to power nearby objects.
  • Tip: Look for shielded areas blocking progress. Often, you’ll need the relocator cannon or Matter Spark to move forward.

Transient Mission:

  • Requires you to use the relocator cannon followed by Matter Spark to activate chargeable fallen objects.

Saturnism Mission:

  • Introduces upgrades to the relocator cannon, such as the ability to redirect beams using yellow glowing objects.
  • Major Puzzle: Use the relocator cannon to traverse laser-guarded areas.

Gouge Mission:

  • Tasked with trapping Servitors in red-glowing rooms to disable their immunity shields.

Charge Mission:

  • A quintessential showcase of all Kepler mechanics working in tandem.
  • Key Mechanic: Combining Matter Spark, Matter Realignment, and Relocator Cannon to remove obstacles and advance the mission.

Criticality Mission:

  • Includes some of the campaign’s hardest puzzles, such as making relocator beam alignments while solving vertical navigation challenges with Matter Spark.

Final Boss Fight

The grand finale is a multi-phase boss fight that requires mastery of the Kepler abilities:

Phase 1:

  • Activate your Matter Spark super to lower shields of shielded enemies.

Phase 2:

  • Use the relocator cannon to teleport around the arena while avoiding powerful Cyclops enemies.

Phase 3:

  • While hanging in mid-air using grapples, use your Matter Spark super on shielded Servitors to make the boss vulnerable to damage.

Our Thoughts on Destiny 2 Campaigns

Edge of Fate’s heavy focus on abilities like Matter Spark adds a new layer of complexity to Destiny 2. Fans who enjoy challenging puzzles and exploration will love these mechanics, while others may find the breaks in gunplay a bit disruptive.

Conclusion

Edge of Fate‘s legendary campaign tries something different—it mixes classic Destiny 2 combat with tricky puzzles and new mechanics. To beat it, you’ll need strong builds, smart planning, and a good grasp of the Kepler abilities.

Whether you’re controlling waves of enemies with your abilities, solving tricky Matter Spark puzzles, or taking down shielded Vex bosses, the campaign ultimately rewards creative problem-solving and team coordination
