Design

Talking about design it looks like an alien spaceship along with RGB Alienware logo and magnesium alloy construction on the lid. The screen is surrounded by thick plastic bezel which is sad. The keyboard has led lights with four customizable lightning pattern and a special power button that looks same as RGB Alienware logo.

Another thing which makes it comfortable is a layer of soft rubber-like material on all over the deck. Moving towards sides it contains ports on all three sides, from left there is a headphone jack, Ethernet and USB 3.0 port. As you are already aware that Alienware M17 is empowered with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU and consumes 8GB of RAM. I Myself played PUBG at ultra and high settings ran between 45 to 60 frame per second which shows it can tackle most games without any issue.

Display

The 17.3-inch, 4k IPS display which is colourful and bright. As I watched Game of Thrones the colours like old silver of royal war armour, velvet red lips of princess and orange glow of sunset. all looked beautiful, sharp and crisp and shows that 4k panel is vivid and glows brighter.

Keypad and Deck

The Alienware experimented on the keyboard as M17 features chicklet keys with space of 1.1mm only. The keys are not deeper but give feel while pressing that makes it give a try. The touchpad is 4.1*2.5 inch big and provides a smooth and accurate response rate. The entire deck is coated by a layer of soft comfortable rubber-like layer which feels great. It supports gesture control and responds well on it too.

Battery Life

As most of you guys know that gaming laptops don’t hold amazing battery life, same goes with Alienware M17 it lasts just 2 hours and 50 minutes during my test. During the test, I was continuously browsing the internet, watching videos, playing games all these on full brightness. Which is not a great battery back up but you can say its satisfactory.

Webcam

Alienware M17 features an FD camera on top of the display which is just okay. You can use it for video chats only nothing more than that. As the recording is not that much clear but is detailed enough to identify the person, background or colour.

Software and Guarantee

The software is split and known as Alienware Command Centre and Alienware Mobile Connect. The Command Centre is responsible for setting controls, library, led lightings and other controls, On the other hand, Mobile Connect enables your phone to connect to laptop and do texting, App works and other Android-based functions on it. As every other device Windows 10 come’s with extra junk like Netflix, PicsArt, Fitbit Coach, etc.

The Alienware M17 doesn’t hold any guarantee but a 1-year warranty Only.
