Whatsapp: How to Request and Download your Account Information?

Whatsapp has recently rolled out a new update. In this update, viewers will be able to request and download their account information. It aims to give users more control over their personal data and simplify the regulation process for international business.It means that information has been collected by you.

Important note- this information won’t contain your personal conversations.

You will be able to see your information report and send it to someone else. You guys might be wondering what is the purpose to download your account data? What are the things you will get after downloading the account information?

Once you have downloaded your account information. You will be able to see the following things:-

This update is called “request account info” most of you must be thinking about, how to request and download account information?

Well, this is a complete guide for this process. This guide works only for beta users. So you won’t be able to request your account information if you are a non-beta user.

Non-beta users have to wait for the official launch. If you are a beta user, then your whatsapp application must be updated to the latest version which is v.2.18.120.

Once you have the updated the application, you will be able to request and download your account information. We will be doing this step by step. We have divided this process into 2 different steps.

Request and Download Account Information for Beta Users of Whatsapp

First step is to request account information and second step is to download account information.

Let’s get to the first step which is requesting account information.

Request account information:

Step 1) open the whatsapp application, now click on the 3 dots on top right corner. Then select the last option which is settings. Once you access the settings. Select the account option.

Step 2) in account menu, you will find 6 options. You will have to click on the 5th one “request account info”, tap on it.

Step 3) click on request report.

These were the steps to request account information. If you are not getting the option of “request account info” then it means that you are not a beta user or you may not have updated the apk. Make sure that you have enrolled in the beta program and downloaded the latest update.

We have successfully requested account information. According to whatsapp, your request will be approved within next 3 days but it won’t take more than 1 day.

Once you have got the approval of your request, it’s the time to move to the next step which is downloading the information.

Downloading the Requested Account Information:

Step 1) now, you have to repeat the steps and go to the request account info menu. You will be able to see an option for downloading the report. Simply, tap on it and you download will be started.

Step 2) once the data is downloaded. You will be able to see another option called export report. Tap on it and the information will be mailed to you.

Now you will be able to read/study your own whatsapp account information. You can also send it someone else via mail etc. You will notice that the data will be very small in size. It can be in kilobytes. It will come in html format.

Whatsapp has ensured that it won’t ask for new rights for the collection of personal information from users following this new update.

This update is a good news for those whatsapp users who were concerned about their privacy.

If you ever try to delete this report, it will not delete your whatsapp account. During the three days of request, you won’t be able to delete your account or change the number.
