Do you like driving games? Do you like games where you get to kill tons of zombies? Why not do both at the same time? Earn to Die 2 is a game developed and released by Not Doppler. With over 50 million downloads on the Google Play Store, it is one of the most downloaded games on the internet. In this article, we share with you our Earn to Die 2 Guide along with some tips and tricks for beginners.
The premise of the game is very simple. You have to drive your car through a zombie apocalypse. Earn to Die 2 is the sequel to Earn to Die. In this 2D game, you drive your car through the apocalypse and constantly upgrade your vehicle so as to finish off the hordes of zombies coming your way. The key is to keep unlocking new vehicles as you go through the levels. The better your vehicle, the more efficient you will be at smashing zombies.
Let us begin our guide.
Earn to Die 2 Guide: Gameplay
The game has multiple levels where you have to go through the beginning to the end in a few days. At the top of the screen, there is a line which shows you how far ahead you have moved in the level.
There is an accelerate button at the bottom right side of the screen. This is how you will move forward in the game. Fuel is scarce though and you need to be careful how to use it.
Fuel, as mentioned above, is scarce and hence you need to use it efficiently. The more fuel you have, the farther you will go and can kill more zombies.
There is a zombie count button in the top left corner of the game. The counter shows you how many zombies you have killed on that day. The game rewards you with cash for killing zombies. The more zombies you kill, the more money you will have. But don’t get too focused on killing zombies (we’ll discuss this later).
There are additional modes in the game apart from the normal story mode of the game. There is the Halloween and Championship mode. The Halloween mode has many pumpkins scattered throughout the level. The goal is to collect as many pumpkins as possible. In the championship mode, you go through a story. The goal is to go as fast as possible.
So, this was our Earn to Die 2 guide. Let us now look at some tips and tricks.
Earn to Die 2 Tips & Tricks
Go Easy on rotation
As you are running through hordes of zombies, it is important to always keep one finger on the acceleration button. If you fully stop, the game is over. So, keep accelerating. However, it is not so important to keep the rotation button pressed when the time comes to rotate. Just tap the button once lightly and it will rotate. If you keep it pressed, you will rotate more than you expected and may cause you to flip over.
Although it is a good idea to always keep accelerating, there are a few times when it is not good to do so. For example,
Don’t accelerate while going downhill
When you are going downhill, it is a good idea to stop accelerating. As the vehicle is going down, gravity will help you. You don’t need to put any extra effort to come down.
When to use Boost
Earn to Die 2 allows your vehicle the option to boost. However, it is not necessary at most times. You will need to use it at the right time to conserve the boost. So, it is better to use the option to boost when you are driving up some hills or when there are bumps in the road which may stop you. You can also use Boost to clear ramps easily.
Improve Engine and Transmission
In Earn to Die 2, you can improve many aspects of the car. However, it is important to upgrade two things the most: the Engine and the Transmission. When you upgrade your engine, you get improved acceleration which means you can get to the top speed quickly. And improving the transmission ensures that you have a higher maximum speed limit. With higher speeds, you will be able to quickly clear stage after stage.
What else to upgrade?
Apart from Engine and transmission, you should focus on guns and your fuel tank.
Once you have the cash for it, you should purchase a gun and equip it to your vehicle. Although you don’t have unlimited ammo in the game, guns are very helpful to shoot down zombies without any extra effort. They also give you more cash while killing the zombies. After you have upgraded both your engine and transmission enough, you should spend the cash to keep upgrading your gun.
After the gun, your focus should be on the fuel tank. With a better fuel tank, you will be able to travel much farther. This will prove useful in many stages.
Be careful with Barriers
When you are driving through the zombie wasteland, it is a good idea to drive away as quickly as possible. Therefore, it may instinctively feel natural to crash into barriers as hard as possible. However, doing so with throw off parts from your vehicle.
Do not accelerate too fast when you see a barrier.
If, however, you have armor on your vehicle and have upgraded it to a good level, you can crash through the barriers. With armor, your vehicle will be more secure.
Hitting Boxes
If you find boxes while driving uphill, do not use the boost option. Use boost only when the road is clear of any obstacles. While driving uphill with boost, if you hit the boxes, your speed will be slowed down heavily.
Weight Distribution
If you have upgraded your engine, transmission, guns and fuel tank enough to be driving a decent zombie smashing machine, it is time to work on the weight distribution.
With weight distribution upgrade, your vehicle will have an easier time ramming through any obstacle you face. With improved weight distribution stats, you won’t need to worry about slowing down because of obstacles on the road.
Focus on The Distance
Remember that the aim of the game is to go the longest distance. The game developers have informed the players that although the player is rewarded both for going farther and for killing zombies, the focus should be on going farther.
The longer you go, the more zombies you will encounter. Hence, you will be rewarded the most when you are going the longest possible distance. Hence, keep your focus on driving as far as possible instead of focusing on killing zombies. Do not waste fuel to kill a particular zombie.
Remaining Upgrades
Once you have upgraded engine, transmission, gun, fuel tank and weight distribution, you can focus on the remaining upgrades mentioned below:
Boost: Some people want to upgrade boost even before they upgrade weight distribution. Boost helps you pick up quick speed and is crucial when driving uphill.
Wheel: It is not a very crucial upgrade but it makes your vehicle decent. It is useful in later stages when uphill roads are more common.
Max out all ride stats
In Earn to Die 2, when you have maxed out all the possible ride stats, the game gives you a great reward. It will give you an extra engine boost.
