Today Fortnite is considered the #1 FPS-based video game.
However, despite being in the top position, it has some issues.
And one of them is with voice chat.
I have played this game multiple times on my PC and cell phone.

Especially when you are in a dire situation in a match and you’re unable to hear your teammates.
That sucks, isn’t it?

How to Fix Fortnite Voice Chat Not Working Error
Well, there are some ways that you can implement to fix the Fortnite Voice Not Working Error. You can try them one by one to see which one works for you the best. Let’s get started:
FIX 1: CHECK THE SERVER
Before you try any and implement any FIX, the first thing you need to do is check the status of your server. If the issue is from the back end then it doesn’t matter which fix you apply. Nothing will work.
Now, you can verify this by visiting the official status.epicgames.com to see if there is any incident of server issues.
FIX 2: FORTNITE SIGN-IN AGAIN
The first thing you need to do is sign out from your current Fortnite account and sign back in.
Once again sign-n to your Fortnite account to try playing the game and see if the issue still persists or not.
If it does not then move over to the next solution.
NOTE: If you’re in between a game then sadly, you have to exit the current game you’re playing.
FIX 3: CHECK YOUR SOUND SETTINGS
Sometimes you might be getting Fortnite voice chat not working error because of some compatibility issues or conflict with the Sound settings.
So to fix this, I would recommend you to open the sound settings in your Windows PC and make sure your headset and Mic are correctly set up and recognizing both input and output voice.
You can also run a mic test to see if Your PC is recognizing your Voice through the mic.
If it’s not recognizing your voice, then move over to the next solution to update your sound card driver.
FIX 4: UPDATING THE SOUND DRIVER
As I said earlier, if you are unable to set up the mic properly then I would recommend you to update your sound card driver.
You can do that by heading over to the device management tool & open the device property settings.
You can do that by opening the device management settings menu.
They’re head over to the particular sound device and open the settings of the current audio device and try updating the sound Hardware installed on your PC.
If you’re unable to do so, I would recommend you to use Driver Booster 8 to update a driver on your PC and let the professional handle the work in a professional manner.
Once you have updated the sound card restart your PC to see the effective changes.
Once done, try playing the game once again to see the Fortnite voice chat not working error getting permanently fixed.
FIX 5: INSTALLING THE LATEST FORTNITE PATCH
It was on March 17, 2021, when epic games recognized the Fortnite voice chat not working error.
The error started showing up during the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 and Epic games acknowledged it right away using their official Twitter handle.
This is what they wrote over a tweet:
“We are currently investigating a voice chat issue. We will provide a patch update when the issue is fixed permanently.
So, what this all means is that Fortnite will roll over a patch update once they’ve fixed up the issue permanently.
So if you are using the epic games launcher to access Fortnite, then you can follow these instructions to check if the latest Fortnite update is available or not.
- Run the epic games launcher.
- Open Library and on the right side, you will see a gear button.
- Click on it to enable the auto-update.
Once done, restart the epic game launcher to check if there’s a new update available or not.
If the update is available, the epic game launcher will detect it for you and will automatically download and install it on your PC.
Now, try playing the game once again to see Fortnite voice chat not working permanently gone.
Despite trying all these fixes, if you are unable to solve the issue. Then I would recommend you to completely reinstall the game as this will fix any existing conflict or issue.
