Amid high inflation in the United States, the average household spending on Monthly Cable has increased massively this year.
According to allconnect, it has reached the level of $217.42 per month.
Don’t worry, I’ve got an easy solution for you – Instead of Cable TV, buy an IPTV subscription.
When it comes to subscribing to IPTV, Slingbox would have been my 1st choice.
But sadly it’s discontinued. Let me tell you why:
Slingbox is Discontinued
Slingbox is a popular streaming device for watching live television on the go. However, on November 9, 2020, it announced that it will be discontinuing sales of its Slingbox device and by November 9, 2022, it will close down all its sling servers.
With no future scope, I could never recommend you. So, instead, here’s a list of my favorite Slingbox alternatives you can use to replace high monthly cable bills:
Slingbox Alternatives
HDHomeRun – Best Slingbox Alternative
If you’re looking for a way to watch your favorite shows on your computer, tablet, or TV without paying for cable or satellite TV, HDHomeRun is the best Slingbox alternative. This device allows you to stream live HD content from your home network over Wi-Fi so that you can enjoy live TV on any device of your choosing.
The HDHomeRun connects directly with an antenna and connects to your router via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection. It then captures all of the channels available in HD quality and streams them through a channel guide similar to how cable works but without any subscription fees! You’ll never miss another episode ever again!
Plex – Free Slingbox Alternative
Plex is a free service available on a wide range of platforms, including Roku and Android. It’s an excellent way for you to watch your own media collection as well as live TV (via Plex Pass) from select providers. The platform’s most notable feature is how it can stream from its servers onto multiple devices at once, making it easy to binge-watch your favorite shows with friends or family.
While not technically a streaming service like Hulu Live or YouTube TV, Plex has become popular in recent years for its ability to act as the central hub for all of your content—not just movies and TV shows but also photos and music files. In this way, Plex acts like an add-on channel that lets you seamlessly access all of the stuff stored on your computer or local network instead of switching between apps every time you want something new to watch.
Channels DVR
Channels DVR is a great way to watch live TV on your mobile device. It lets you record live TV and watch recorded shows on your mobile device.
Channels DVR is available on iOS, Android and Amazon devices. You can start recording with just one tap and then pause or rewind live TV at any time!
PlayOn Cloud and PlayLater – Record Videos from the Internet
PlayOn Cloud and PlayLater are two similar services that allow you to record streaming videos from the internet.
These apps will record your favorite shows and movies so you can watch them whenever and wherever you want.
PlayOn Cloud and PlayLater are available for use on your phone, tablet, PC or Mac!
TiVo Edge
If you don’t have cable, but still want to watch live TV online, there are a few ways to do it. TiVo Edge allows you to stream live digital television signals over the internet. You can use TiVo Edge with any smart TV or set-top box that has an HDMI port and a Wi-Fi connection.
TiVo Edge usually offers access to hundreds of channels from all over the world (and sometimes even local cable networks).
However, some of its apps may require additional payment for certain services or channels and not all regions will support them as readily as others.
Kodi – The Ultimate Media Player
Kodi is a free, open-source media player that can play a wide variety of media formats. It supports music, videos, and live TV. Kodi can be installed on a variety of devices including mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers.
The main advantage of using Kodi is that it allows users to stream content from their home network or the internet through various add-ons such as YouTube, Netflix etc. In addition to this, Kodi also supports DVD playback so you can watch your favorite DVDs on the go!
Emby DVR – Record Live TV
If you’re looking for a free and open source alternative to Slingbox, Emby is your best bet. It can record live TV, stream live TV, stream to mobile devices, and even stream to smart TVs.
Emby is very user-friendly and easy to set up. The server software runs on Windows, macOS or Linux operating systems while clients are available for various platforms (e.g., Android).
The server interface offers many features such as remote streaming as well as a convenient EPG (Electronic Program Guide) with channel logos that makes it look similar to Slingbox client apps like SlingPlayer. You don’t have any restrictions on the number of people who can use the service at once either!
The only downside is that there’s no option yet available for recording live sports events or channels not found in the EPG feed; however this should be fixed by next year when they plan on adding them through an upcoming update called “Emby Theater.”
EyeTV DVR – Stream Live TV to Apple Products
If you’re an Apple user, the EyeTV DVR is a great option for streaming live TV on your Apple products. With support for both Mac and iOS devices, it’s easy to stream live TV from your home to anywhere in the world with Wi-Fi or cellular service.
It records in high definition and can record shows on its own as well as schedule recording times. The EyeTV app also allows you to watch recorded programs remotely through your iPhone or iPad while away from home!
Once you’ve EyeTV, you would be able to save some bucks on purchasing monthly Apple TV+ subscription.
NextPVR (NPVR) – Eliminating Commercials from Recorded Shows
NextPVR is an open-source DVR software, which means it can be run on any computer or NAS device. It’s available for Windows and Linux, with a Mac version in the works.
NPVR allows you to record your favorite shows and watch them later at your convenience. For example, let’s say you don’t have time to watch TV during the week but would like to catch up on an episode of The Big Bang Theory before Friday night. NPVR enables you to schedule recordings so that your favorites are set aside for you until they’re ready for viewing—even if it comes from another country!
Conclusion
With so many options for live streaming, there is no reason not to try it out.
Watching TV on the go to using the IPTV service on amazon firesick, has never been easier and more fun.
Once you’ve opted an IPTV service, you don’t have to spend a fortune on equipment or subscribe to expensive cable packages anymore.
That’s all for now.
