In this article, I am going to explain the steps to turn off the sticky keys feature. But before that, I will tell you guys, why Sticky Keys are included in your operating system.

What is Sticky Key and what is it used for?

Have you guys heard about GUI (Graphical User Interface) Sticky Keys are developed using this technology?

Sticky Keys are a special type of feature used for a handicapped person or someone who cannot use his/her finger properly. It is used to perform actions like pressing multiple keys at the same time.

When we act like cutting, copying, or pasting something we press more than one key at a time, like Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V, and many more.

Doing these actions are though for the specially-abled persons and those who are suffering some injury in their fingers.

Sticky Keys comes under the accessibility feature, if the sticky keys are enabled you don’t have to keep pressing the modifier keys to use them. You just have to press one then release it and press the next one.

How to Get Access to Sticky Keys in Windows?

Method One: By pressing the Shift key.

• Relentlessly, five times press the Shift Key on your keyword.
• Select the Yes button from the pop-up menu.

Method Two: Switch it on in Ease of Access keyboard settings

• From the shown result select Ease of Access Keyboard Settings.
• You will see Press one key at a time for keyboard shortcuts, turn it on.

Method Three: Through Turn on easy access keys.

• Go to the search bar and type the key in the search box.
• From the shown result select Turn on easy access keys.
• Tick the turn on sticky keys, and press the ok button.

Ways to disable or turn off the sticky keys permanently

Method One:

• Relentlessly, five times press the Shift Key on your keyword to turn on the Sticky Keys.
• Take a look at the bottom of your taskbar, you will see an icon for Sticky Keys which looks like a white keyboard with some keys.
• Put the cursor on it and press the mouse button two times to open the Ease of Access center.

• In the ease of access center, you will see ‘Turn on Sticky Keys when shift is pressed five times’ and ‘Turn on Sticky Keys’ uncheck the boxes to turn off the sticky keys permanently.

Method Two:

This method is for those, who are unable to see the Sticky Keys icon in their taskbar.

• Go to the search bar, and type Ease of Access.
• From the shown result select Ease of Access Keyboard Settings.
• Switch the Toggle button off under Sticky Keys, if it is on.
• If you want don’t want to activate it again, uncheck the Allow the shortcut key to start sticky keys.

Another way to turn off the Stick Keys, but remember if you will use this method Sticky Keys are not going to be turned off permanently.

By Using keyword shortcuts

• Cumulatively press any two keys, that is Ctrl, Alt, Windows key, and Shift key. (Any two at a time).

It is not like that the Sticky keys are just for specially-abled persons, if you don’t like holding down keys, you can use this feature. And if you are someone like me with a small palm you should definitely use this feature
