Over the past few years, mobile gaming platform has seen some unprecedented jump in popularity. But it’s only recently that its gaming capabilities have been fully realized. Mobile gaming continues to be the fastest-growing sector of the gaming industry. It’s responsible for billions in revenue, partly due to the platform’s availability worldwide and partly for mobile games’ innate ability to be played on the go.
There are tons of ways to improve your gameplay when it comes to playing mobile games.
And one of them is using a controller to play mobile games.
However, not all games come with built-in support for controllers.
So, I’ve compiled a list of controller supported games that you can play in 2022.

HOW TO CONNECT A CONTROLLER TO A MOBILE?
If you have a controller lying around, it’s easy to connect it up to your phone and play with all the controls you’ve come to expect from the original game.
The only thing you’ll need is an OTG USB cable. Of course, some controllers are wireless and can be connected over Bluetooth, but this method will work for any controller that connects via USB. For example, the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U Pro controllers use USB cables to work with the suitable adapter.
You can use any controller you want, but if you’re looking for a recommendation, the Xbox One Elite controller is an excellent option. It has fully customizable buttons and sticks, and back paddles for even more control. The standard Xbox One controller is still a great choice if you want something a little more affordable.
Again, you’ll also need an OTG USB cable – search for one on Amazon and make sure it says “OTG” on it somewhere. Plug your controller into the mini-USB end of the cable and plug that into your Android device – no additional software required! You’ll have to map out each button in the settings menu on first use. Once that’s done, everything should work just like it would on a PC

Asphalt 9: Legends
Not every racing game gets controller support, which is one reason why Asphalt 9 is considered one of the best racing games. The game has so many things to love about it, but to appreciate all of them, you need a controller.
The game works flawlessly with controllers, making it even better than before. If you have already played Asphalt 8 Airborne with a controller or other compatible games, you will immediately feel at home with this one as well.
The steering and direction buttons are automatically mapped on your controller and work like any other car racing game for mobile. The only downside is that you cannot change them at your convenience. However, if you are new to the car racing genre itself and do not know how to use a controller, there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube that will help you get started with Asphalt 9 Legends in no time!
Call of Duty Mobile
When one thinks of the best mobile games on a controller, the FPS genre generally doesn’t come to mind. Maybe it’s to do with the lack of decent controls in most games, or perhaps it’s the lack of good handling compared to PC and console counterparts. However, call of Duty Mobile is one outlier that’s well worth trying out — and it’s one of the best mobile games with controller support.
It has one of the largest player bases of any game in the mobile market, and it’s constantly updated and kept alive through its competitive community. The controls are surprisingly decent without a gamepad, but of course, it plays much better (and gamers will fare much better) with the call of duty mobile controller connected.
Life is Strange
This one is one of the best narrative-driven games that you can try out with a controller. Life is strange has five episodes to test out your decision-making skills as the town’s fate may depend on them.
The game allows you to manipulate the time to alter events in the past and future. Most importantly, it widely supports all iOS devices and controllers.
Brawlhalla
Brawlhalla is a free fighting game that significantly emphasizes multiplayer and quick, brutal brawls. The game can be played locally or online with crossplay functionality across many systems, including the Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
The game is surprisingly fun and features a massive roster of characters. The modding and customization in the game are pretty extensive, too. Brawlhalla turns into a decent competitive game with a controller that can’t be matched with lackluster touch controls.
PUBG Mobile
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the mobile port of the popular battle royale game by Bluehole Studios. The game pits 100 players against each other in a fight for survival, and the last man standing is crowned the winner. Players collect weapons and armor from houses around the map and find vehicles to traverse the battleground faster.
The mobile version of PUBG was made by Tencent, who also developed an emulator to allow PC gamers to play the game on their computers. Since it was designed with mobile devices in mind, it’s relatively easy to control, but it might be the better option if you have a controller lying around.
Minecraft
Minecraft’s controls are pretty straightforward. So it makes sense that this is one of the best mobile games for controller support. The only tricky part about using a controller is figuring out which buttons to press when crafting something new in your inventory.
However, crafting on the go is unnecessary at some point because you can make all the items you need when you get back home.
Minecraft is one of those games that never gets old or repetitive, which is why it’s a great way to spend time on your phone. It’s also one of my favorite mobile games for portable controllers because it adds so many new ways to bring creativity into your life.

As I said earlier, the mobile gaming sector has seen an unprecedented boom over the past few years.
That’s why game developers are looking for ways to mint money from their games.
And with the added support of a controller, they are trying to bring their games to attract PC and console users.
