Types of Furnace Golems

There are two types of Furnace Golems in Elden Ring:

  1. Non-Armored Golems – These have ropes on their legs that you can target to make them stagger and fall.
  2. Armored Golems – These are heavily protected, and you can barely attack them. Use Spirit Springs to get above them for a better chance to hit.

Furnace Golem Elden Ring Drop Locations

Scorched Ruins

  • First Furnace Golem Location:
    • High up in Spirit Springs.
    • Drop: Deflecting Hard Tear.

Ancient Ruins East

  • Second Furnace Golem Location:
    • Bridge by waterfall.
    • Use the pots from a high vantage point.
    • Drop: Crimson Sapping Crack Tear.

Charo’s Hidden Grave

  • Third Furnace Golem Location:
    • Located on a hill, use Spirit Springs to get above and nuke it.
    • Drop: Glove Wart Crystal Tear.

Castle Watering Hole

  • Fourth Furnace Golem Location:
    • Activate and bait it to a high vantage point.
    • Drop: Blood Sucking Crack Tear.

How to Beat Furnace Golem Elden Ring?

Facing the Furnace Golem in Elden Ring, especially those with leg armor is challenging. This guide will walk you through the steps necessary to defeat them effectively.

Key Items Needed

  1. Hefty Fire Pots or Hefty Furnace Pots
    • Hefty Fire Pot: Obtain the Greater Potentate Cookbook 1 from the Scorch Ruins at the beginning of the DLC.
    • Hefty Furnace Pot: Obtain the Greater Potentate Cookbook 2.

Note: Hefty Furnace Pots are more powerful but require rarer materials.

Strategy Needed to Beat Furnace Golem

  1. Identify the Weakness – Furnace Golems with leg armor cannot be staggered by attacking their legs. Instead, you will need to utilize Hefty Fire Pots or Furnace Pots.
  2. Prepare Materials – Ensure you have five Hefty Cracked Pots to craft enough Fire Pots for a single take-down. This can be adjusted based on how many pots you have.
  3. Positioning – These armored Golems are usually near a ledge high enough for you to get above them. Position yourself on a ledge to safely throw the Fire/Furnace Pots into the basket on top of your head.
  4. Alternative Methods:
    • If you have magic or ranged attacks, you can shoot their face. However, this method is time-consuming and riskier.

Combat Steps Needed to Beat Furnace Golem

  1. Bait and Aim:
    • Bait the Golem towards the ledge.
    • Attempt to throw the Fire or Furnace Pot into the basket on their head. If it doesn’t quite reach, reposition and try again.
  2. Avoid Attacks:
    • When the Golem performs its meteor attack, find cover or give yourself enough space to run perpendicular to the attack.
    • Spam roll or jump to avoid the meteors as they approach.
  3. Execute the Plan:
    • Wait for the Golem to perform a jumping attack.
    • Spam your Fire/Furnace Pots into the basket when the Golem is charging up.
    • If you have enough Fire Pots, continue spamming until the Golem is defeated.
  4. Crafting Pots Mid-Fight:
    • If you run out of pots, disengage from combat and craft more.
    • Run far enough to exit combat, but do not rest at a Site of Grace or fast travel, as this will reset the Golem’s health.
    • Return to the ledge and repeat the process until the Golem is defeated.

Useful Notes –

  • Hefty Fire Pots generally require five pots to kill a Golem, while Hefty Furnace Pots may require as few as three.
  • This process can be repeated until the Golem is defeated.

Strength Build

  1. Equipment:
    • Weapons: +2 Giant Crusher
    • Armor: Lion L Set
    • Talismans: Shard of Alexander, Radagon’s Scarseal, Flame Drake Talisman, Great Jar’s Arsenal
  2. Strategy:
    • Engage on horseback to stay mobile.
    • Avoid swipes by keeping your distance and timing your rolls and jumps.
    • Focus on staggering the Golem. After three staggers, you can get a riposte.
    • When he performs his double-leg jump, uses Torrent to create distance and jump to avoid damage.

Faith Build

  1. Equipment:
    • Weapon: Erdtree Seal +10
    • Incantations: Pest Threads, Golden Vow
    • Talismans: Flock’s Canvas Talisman, Radagon Icon, Primal Glintstone Blade
  2. Strategy:
    • Stay on Torrent to maintain mobility.
    • Use Pest Threads to deal continuous damage from a safe distance.
    • Cast Golden Vow to increase your attack power before engaging.
    • Stagger him by continuously attacking with Pest Threads, then switch to a weapon for ripostes.

Dexterity Build

  1. Equipment:
    • Weapon: Hand of Malenia
    • Armor: Malenia’s Set
    • Talismans: Erdtree’s Favor +2, Flame Drake Talisman +2, Millicent’s Prosthesis, Rotten Winged Sword Insignia
  2. Strategy:
    • Use a mix of mounted and unmounted combat.
    • Whack at the Golem’s legs to build up stagger.
    • When close, use successive attacks to deal continuous damage.
    • Be mindful of the Golem’s kick attacks and aerial jumps.

Intelligence Build

  1. Equipment:
    • Weapons: Lusat’s Glintstone Staff, Carian Knight Sword
    • Spells: Carian Slicer, Crystal Release
    • Talismans: Viridian Amber Medallion +2, Graven-Mass Talisman, Magic Scorpion Charm, Radagon Icon
    • Flask of Wondrous Physick: Used to temporarily boost Intelligence and eliminate FP consumption for a short time
