From using net banking services to getting access to your private wallets, everything is ONLINE.
So, open the website URL & enjoy the benefits available online.
However, before using either of these services on a web browser, have you considered its security aspects?
Probably not. That’s why many users get easily scammed by hackers.
So, what’s the solution?
How can you open private links without compromising on security?
Avast Secure Browser by avast antivirus is an open you can give a try.
It’s a complete solution to the previous launch of the avast bank mode, where you could only safeguard your banking transactions.
However, that’s not the case with avast secure browser as it allows you to browse any website you want. If the website is safe, you will be able to use it without taking an extra step. Now, I’ll get started with the introduction of Avast Secure Browser:
What Is Avast Secure Browser?
Avast Secure Browser is based on the Chromium engine, which means it has access to your Chrome account, bookmarks, and other browser-based features connected with your Chrome account.
The Avast secure browser does not have all of the bells and whistles that might slow down Chrome. As a result, the Avast secure browser is both safer and quicker than Chrome. In this post, you’ll discover what features the browser has and whether it lives up to its promises.
Installing The Avast Secure Browser
You can download the Avast browser for Windows or Mac and a mobile version for Android.
The browser is available for download from the button above as a standalone app, but it also includes other Avast security solutions. You’ll see in the box that it comes with many free Avast programs or can be purchased as an add-on.
The wizard will display a summary at the end of the installation. You can read it if you’d like, but you don’t have to. When the setup is finished, pick Finish setup or Customize settings to save all default settings.
My Setup Preference:
- Once installed, I recommend you to pin the Avast Secure Browser on the desktop, taskbar and Start menu.
- Next, open the browser and set it as default.
- Set language to English.
- Now, in my case, I had imported data(cookies, bookmark, search history) from the chrome browser.
- Also, you can set this browser to launch at startup from task windows task manager.
To do so, input “secure://settings/importData” into the URL area of the Avast secure browser.
Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer are all supported. If you want to import bookmarks from an HTML file, you can do so as well.
Features of Avast Secure Browser
Adblocker
Avast has an ad-blocker feature that you can configure to your liking; it can help you eliminate intrusive advertisements or completely block all pop-up ads. This extension is based on uBlock Origin and may use third-party filter lists, custom rules, and safelists. Enabling ad blocking allows for a quicker online surfing experience.
Anti-phishing
The Avast! browser is safe against phishing attempts. In addition, it identifies and notifies the user of any potentially fraudulent websites. When you go online, this is a vital preventive measure against widespread viruses and ransomware.
Anti-tracking and fingerprinting
Avast’s secure browser obscures your unique browser ID number. This minimizes the potential for sites to track or fingerprint you for marketing reasons.
Avast Passwords
You may effectively manage your login details for sites you regularly use with Avast Passwords. It allows you to save and retrieve passwords and automatically fill login forms using a secure source. This feature works in tandem with the security components of other Avast security solutions.
Avast SecureLine VPN
You may install the browser extension to conceal your location and change it to another. This may be useful if you want to access region-locked content. SecureLine VPN software from Avast, on the other hand, is required for this feature’s usefulness.
Bank mode
Safe Zone’s bank-mode option has been folded into the new program, raising questions about whether Safe Zone will continue to offer it should users opt for this one. In addition, the Internet Banking system features security and privacy settings that you can use to enhance your online experience.
They’re there to protect you against hackers. They’re not tracking your browsing history or keeping track of what you buy on Amazon. You can use these features whenever you want, and they won’t be able to trace your activities back to you. It reduces the risk of your banking information being stolen or recorded, and your transactions are as secure as possible.
Extension guard
You may always turn off or enable Avast’s built-in extensions. To give you complete control over add-ons, Avast goes above and beyond by blocking third-party browser extension installations on your browser automatically. As a result, you have the option of accepting or rejecting any or all of them.
Flash blocker
This feature is one of Avast’s most valuable tools in terms of improving your surfing speed. It prevents flash content from overwhelming the system.
HTTPS encryption
Most of the time, Avast Secure Browser will encrypt all data sent between you and a website when it is in use. This feature is used to encrypt all data exchanged with the website in question.
Privacy Cleaner
Avast’s browser also includes a fast privacy cleaner tool, which is an excellent feature. It can instantly erase your browser history. In addition, it helps get rid of cached pictures and cookies while surfing the web.
Stealth Mode
You can switch on STEALTH MODE, which is similar to Private Browsing Mode in other browsers. This function creates a private browsing window that deletes your surfing history after you close the browser. Cookies and web cache will not be stored on your machine, robbing you of your privacy.
Video downloading
Avast Secure Browser makes it simple to watch videos from trusted sources. The extension is pinned to the toolbar and may be readily accessed while browsing a page of interest. In addition, you may select the video quality as well as the audio download from the video.
Is Avast Secure Browser Better Than Chrome?
TBH, Avast Secure Browser is a trusted tool for protecting yourself against online monitoring. This is especially true if you use a premium VPN service.
Other browsers may not have all of Avast’s innovative features, such as bank mode and anti-fingerprinting. Anti-phishing is also beneficial for individuals at risk of phishing scams.
However, there are drawbacks with these exceptional security and privacy features:
- You may feel a slight reduction in overall performance.
- You may be prohibited from uninstalling default browser extensions.
- Once installed, you can’t get access to the Chrome ecosystem.
Most of the features that you may miss out on in Chrome or other main browsers make Avast a more secure and private browser. So this is one browser that any security-conscious person should consider seriously as long as the folks at Avast keep up a continuous and regular patching cycle.
Bottom Line
With the support of the chromium engine, I don’t think there’s a secure web browser and, at the same time, available for casual surfing.
I know at first, the avast secure browser may feel a bit complicated. But believe once you’ve got the hang of this browser, there’s nothing easier than this.
That’s all with my avast secure browser review.
